As sustainability consultants and EIA practitioners we have been looking at ways in which the industry can move Environmental Statements (ES) into digital formats both as interactive plans and maps, to the use of Virtual Reality (VR) in order to experience the development and to make it more accessible to non-technical people.
With the industry focusing on how technology can make society more sustainable, through resource efficiency, circular economy and climate resilience, should we as practitioners really be looking at how we can best tell this story without having to resort to an old fashion way of printing it?
As part of this review we undertook an exercise to understand the actual carbon footprint of producing paper copies and this is what we found.
