Greengage Principal Consultant, Richard Hillyard has recently completed his training to become a licenced NABERS UK Energy for Offices Assessor, becoming one of the first registered assessors in the UK for the new building energy assessment scheme going live in late September 2021.
After being a highly successful building certification scheme in Australia over the past 20 years, which has seen over 1 billion dollars in energy bill savings, 7 million tonnes of CO2 emissions saved and covering 78% of office space. NABERS UK if going live imminently via BRE as the UK scheme administrator, offering Energy Assessments and Design for Performance for Offices.
A NABERS UK energy assessment, captures actual operational data over a 12-month period and calculates a 1-6 Star rating on energy performance. Allowing for a simple and effective means to understand current energy and carbon impacts, provide easy benchmarking and comparison to similar buildings, and promote recognition for good building management and energy performance.
With the backing of BRE and the Better Buildings Partnership (BBP), NABERS UK energy certification is pro-active, tangible tool to support ongoing building energy performance monitoring as well as a highly effective means to bridge the gap in measuring the performance gap between building design and operation.
