In accordance with UK legislation and policy, biodiversity must be protected, conserved and enhanced. Accurate classification of habitats, flora and fauna at a site is therefore a key consideration in the development process. We have extensive experience of undertaking Preliminary Ecological Appraisals (otherwise known as Phase 1 Ecology Surveys or Biodiversity Assessments). We identify ecological features on site, the potential for the site to support protected species, note any invasive flora and advise on mitigation, compensation and enhancement measures. These surveys and the accompanying reports are suitable to support planning submissions and EIA, and form the basis of biodiversity strategies.
