Introducing Bevan 150 150 Greengage Environmental

Greengage are excited to announce the appointment of Bevan Jones as an Associate.  Bevan will lead our Climate Change service offering, delivering expert advice to our clients on Corporate Climate Change Strategies, Climate Change Risk Assessment and Climate Resilience for both new developments and existing assets. Bevan is already involved with some key projects, currently delivering Enfield Council’s Net Zero Strategy whilst also further developing Greengage’s climate change work.

Bevan joins Greengage at a time of significant growth and brings with him over 15 years’ experience in climate risk, sustainability and carbon reduction having worked in the private, public and third sector.

He is skilled in interpreting future climate data and applying it to business processes and developing multifunctional strategies that help organisations increase their climate resilience and reduce their carbon emissions.

Bevan began his career in local government devising strategic organisational approaches to climate change and sustainability at a number of local authorities including Islington, where he became London’s first climate adaptation officer. His experience took him to Ecofys where he worked on the Economics of Climate Resilience study for DEFRA and contributed to several consultancy and research projects.

Since Ecofys, Bevan has held roles at:

  • Catalyst, one of the most sustainable housing associations in the UK, where he led group efforts to embed sustainability into all aspects of the business including development planning, performance monitoring and decision making. This enabled the organisation to be recognised as achieving the highest sustainability standard in the country for housing providers three years in a row; and
  • Sustainable Homes, where Bevan was Managing Director between 2016 and 2018 delivering landmark research such as Safe as Houses, a review of sustainability in the social housing sector; Responsible etrofit, Sustainable Homes’ first white paper; as well as a range of projects for Thames Water, Ecotricity and Switchee.

Prior to joining Greengage, Bevan was working freelance delivering a wide variety of projects across several sectors including annual integrated report advice and risk assessment for Crest Nicholson, providing research for a sustainable consumption start up and publishing Climate Risks for London, a review of evidence and how climate will effect certain sectors in London on behalf of the Green Party.

Bevan said ‘I’m really excited to be joining Greengage. We are in the right place at the right time with many businesses realising that being net zero and climate resilient is no longer an optional extra. I hope my experience and expertise can help not just the business but also my colleagues in their projects and development.’

Mitch Cooke, Greengage’s Founding Director said ‘Its great to have Bevan on board working alongside the talented team here at Greengage. Bevan further strengthens our ability to support our clients in addressing the impacts of climate change be it a new development, existing assets or at a corporate level across a portfolio, a role he is already delivering for Greengage at Enfield Council.’
