Earlier today the Government announced its intention to review the business energy tax landscape to consider approaches to simplify and improve the effectiveness of the regime. This review will include the Climate Change Levy, CRC Energy Efficiency Scheme and Climate Change Agreements and the Energy Savings Opportunity Scheme.
The Government has stated that it will launch a formal public consultation in the Autumn.
Pending any changes that the Government makes, participants are still responsible for meeting their responsibilities under all schemes that they currently qualify for. Administration of these schemes will continue as at present.
For the purposes of the Energy Savings Opportunity Scheme the deadline for compliance for the first period remains as set out in law, 5 December 2015.
