Greengage are acting as the sustainability coordinators for a major refurbishment of the existing Yalding House office development in central London. Yalding House was formerly occupied by the BBC and the building occupies a prestigious location on Great Portland Street.
The project involves a complete refurbishment and extension of the existing building and will comprise an additional floor with enhanced specification and terrace and extensive refurbishment of the reception area. The scheme will also comprise external refurbishment to tidy up the existing façade of the building. The aim of the development is to maximise lettable area and floor to ceiling heights, whilst remaining architecturally sympathetic to the existing building.
Greengage have been appointed to help shape the sustainability objectives and key performance indicators and outcomes of the prestigious scheme, so that it meets the high level of sustainability corporate requirements set by British Land as well as the BREEAM Excellent requirements.
British Land is a leader in the industry known for their high standards of sustainability and environmental performance. During Greengage’s role as sustainability coordinator, the team will help to ensure that British Land’s corporate sustainability targets and their Sustainable Development Brief are communicated to all parties, including the multi-disciplinary design team, planning authority, and contractors. This will facilitate the delivery of a genuinely sustainable refurbishment project with low carbon footprint.
