Greengage is working with Wild West End, a partnership between some of the West End’s largest property owners, to help encourage nature back into this iconic area of London.
Wild West End (WWE) is a unique partnership between Capital and Counties, Church Commissioners for England, The Crown Estate, Great Portland Estates, Grosvenor Property UK, The Howard de Walden Estate, The Portman Estate and Shaftesbury. Their vision is to make the West End home to a network of green stepping stones between existing areas of surrounding parkland, through green infrastructure such as green roofs and walls, planters and flower boxes, street trees and pop-up spaces.
We will be updating WWE’s values matrix, intended to provide a high-level framework for considering how to approach and prioritise green infrastructure across the partnership. The update will incorporate best practice and guidance for green infrastructure, including the application of natural capital principles in an urban context. As part of this work, we will engage with various stakeholders to co-develop the matrix and also produce an external report that describes the matrix, including measurement of nature’s impacts and benefits, alongside a user guide.
