Greengage acted as the social value, sustainability, and biodiversity support throughout the creation of a framework for eight sites across Walthamstow.
London Borough Waltham Forest Council appointed Weston Williamson+Partners, Tonkin Liu, NOOMA Studio, Gerald Eve, Velocity and Greengage to deliver on this brief and generate a framework that would see meaningful change within Waltham Forest over the coming years.
Our work specifically focused on the sustainability of the proposed buildings through setting carbon reduction targets, creating a network of biodiverse corridors and increasing access to nature and green space, and understanding how to add social value through design, supported by a meaningful engagement strategy.
Greengage delivered three reports that gave a holistic overview of the interventions to take place across the 8 sites. These were developed with the wider design team through a series of focused design workshops.
These culminated in a number of KPIs to ensure that designs reflect the main social, environmental and sustainability goals and give the client the tools to deliver upon the criteria set out in the report.
