High Wycombe Town Centre Extension (HWTCE) proposal is to provide some 670,000 square feet of retail, leisure and community floor space, to be fully integrated with the existing refurbished Octagon Centre, to provide a total retail led development of 850,000 square feet, a new Civic square, cafes and restaurants, bus depot, 12 screen cinema, bowling alley, community library and 48 residential dwellings to be branded as ‘Eden’.
The scheme comprises a mix of uses, with 48 residential units situated above the retail block wrapping around a multi-storey car park. The residential element includes a mix of tenures both private and affordable, and a mix of sizes.
Greengage were the BREEAM Retail and Ecohomes assessors and undertook the environmental appraisal of this mixed-use scheme at the design and procurement stage of the development. This involved an evaluation of the detailed designs, collation and assessment of the documentary evidence submitted by the team, and the provision of guidance to Multiplex and the team to facilitate the achievement of the target rating of ‘Very Good’ for both the BREEAM Retail and Ecohomes assessment.
