The regeneration of a significant area of Hayle Harbour to a mixed use development will bring social, environmental and economic benefits to Hayle.
Greengage were involved in the Environmental Statement for a retail led, mixed use development at South Quay, Hayle Harbour, Cornwall. The team also developed a separate Environmental Statement (ES) for Hayle Footbridge, which will link South Quay to Penpol Terrace.
Through managing the Environment Impact Assessment process, Greengage helped to ensure that the proposed development accords with the sustainable development aims and objectives of both National and Local planning objectives. Specifically reducing the need to travel by car, addressing accessibility, promoting sustainable economic development and delivering a high quality safe environment which links to the surrounding townscape. The application site is adjacent a SSSI so ecological aspects were closely scrutinised by the team.
The work carried out by Greengage helped to promote the regeneration benefits of the scheme. A key one being the footbridge which will help to improve access and permeability for pedestrians and cyclists. The ES demonstrated that such improvements will promote trips between South Quay and Foundry centre and the shops at Penpol Terrace and improve the vitality and viability of the overall Hayle area.
