Greengage project managed the provision of a cost-effective Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) process and accompanying Environmental Statement (ES) for the cryogenic liquid natural gas (LNG) transfer pipeline. This 2.4 km pipeline supports the existing pipeline by conveying imported LNG from the carriers docking at jetties on the north bank of the Medway to the processing plant.
The site is located on a former oil refinery and adjacent to an internationally designated estuary that provides an important wildlife habitat for overwintering wildfowl. A variety of habitats support a wide-range of protected species including water voles, great crested newts and reptiles.
In addition, Greengage provided specific Ecological Survey chapters including Environmental Management, Water Resources and Cumulative Impacts.
