CAST

Cast ESG and Carbon Baseline Service

In May, Greengage were appointed by Cast, a Real Estate and Construction consultancy company, to provide specialist sustainability and net zero carbon advice and support in developing a robust company ESG strategy and pathway to net zero carbon.

Cast have recognised the importance of tackling climate change as a business as well as within the built environment and construction sectors. This led to the appointment of Greengage as their sustainability partner.

Carbon Baseline Establishment

Greengage are already working with Cast to understand the business’ current carbon baseline, capturing data and information to calculate scope 1 & 2 emissions as well as mapping where Scope 3 emissions lie and can be investigated.

Over the coming months, we will be working with Cast to finalise their carbon baseline, reviewing the previous two financial years of performance data to understand the variation and impact COVID-19 has had on the energy usage and carbon emissions from business activities.

Net Zero Pathway & ESG Strategy

We will embark on establishing a roadmap to net zero carbon by 2045 in line with the Carbon Reduction Code for the Built Environment.  This roadmap will form part of a broader strategy for Cast’s approach to Sustainability, establishing a series of SMART targets linked to both the internal work the company is doing to reduce its own environmental and climate impacts as well as the external work Cast conducts with clients and industry, advocating for increased positive action on climate change in how we deliver and manage buildings.

This approach provides the perfect opening to demonstrate recognition of Cast’s own impacts and leadership in identifying opportunities and initiatives to reduce them as much as possible as well as harnessing their industry leading knowledge and expertise in advocating best practices in modern methods of construction as part of the solution in a more sustainable, circular economy world that minimises carbon emissions and contribution to climate change.

More than Carbon

A key theme that Greengage are supporting Cast with, is to not only focus on carbon and achieving net zero but to bring in broader sustainability themes such as environmental protection, resource efficiency and social value. Harnessing the UN Sustainable Development Goals as a means to provide a global connection to Cast’s commitments and journey in embedding sustainability into the ethos of the business organisation.

Cast have recently been accepted into the Construction Leadership Council’s Construct Zero programme, a further recognition of Cast’s commitment to addressing climate change and sustainability and its industry-leading advocacy role focussed around modern methods of construction and its work with leading developers to transform the way in which new homes are delivered.

Jeff Endean, Director at Cast with responsibility for Strategic Advisory and Sustainability services said:

“We are delighted to be working with Greengage to support our approach which incorporates not only our own strategy for our Cast 1 & 2 emissions, but also our role in advising leading developers as well as our industry-wide work to drive process transformation and waste reduction through modern methods of construction. We recognised Greengage as a leading sustainability expert which shared our passion for real, measurable change and we look forward to working closely with them to jointly lead that change in construction.”
