Greengage has given advice to U+I on various aspects of their carbon strategy. This comprised both an ongoing annual role for mandatory GHG reporting of corporate operations and voluntary embodied carbon profiling of development projects.
Greengage helped U+I identify the key sources of operational emissions and determine the methodology and means of reporting to meet legislative need. This work involved liaising with the U+I team and Asset and Facilities Managers of the office buildings. Greengage examined the electricity and fuel use across individual assets and operations to determine and report the scope 1&2 emissions. Greengage also initiated collation of scope 3 data on waste production and water consumption from U+I assets.
U+I also asked Greengage to undertake embodied carbon analyses on three of their development projects. Using our bespoke in-house embodied carbon calculator, we determined the embodied carbon emissions associated with key construction materials and delivery methods as well as site energy use. This enabled identification of key areas where embodied carbon savings could be made and we provided recommendations for future projects, thus maintaining a process of continuous improvement in development projects.
