Greengage undertook the Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) for the proposed redevelopment of derelict land adjacent to the River Avon to the west of Bath. The scheme proposals included the provision of employment and commercial uses, residential units, community facilities and high quality retail facilities.
The scheme was located adjacent to the riverside in a high-profile location which was inscribed as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1987. This meant there were significant obligations and challenges on the team to deliver a viable, innovative and high quality scheme whilst respecting the relevant policies relating to landscape settings and conservation.
The team provided pro-active input to site masterplanning to ensure that management and mitigation strategies were adopted for the constraints. The team employed an integrated approach to EIA components and were able to service all technical areas. Ecological issues were resolved and managed with an early identification of constraints to minimise project delays.
The teams input meant that the scheme delivered on the aspirations of all stakeholders, completing project objectives in a highly sensitive location.
