Greengage are pleased to announce that our Consultant Kerri-Emma Dobson has become an Associate Member of the Faculty of Public Health (FPH).
The FPH are the professional body for specialists in public health in the UK. The overarching mission of the FPH is to promote and protect the health and wellbeing of everyone in society through assuring an effective public health workforce, promoting public health knowledge and advocating for the very best conditions for good health.
Health and wellbeing credentials have long been recognised within built environment standards such as BREEAM, thus playing an active role in implementing successful sustainable solutions within the built environment. But in recent years the subject has grown to place increasing importance on the wider potential health & wellbeing impacts developments have within local communities & environments.
Health Impact Assessments (HIA) are a method of analysing these wider impacts and identifying appropriate mitigation or enhancement. With the use of specialist tools, health & wellbeing impacts of a development can be managed through a HIA so as to support a development through planning, and its entire operational lifespan.
