Kingsway Hall Hotel

Greengage were appointed to act as energy and sustainability advisors to the design team for the extension of the well regarded 4-star deluxe West End hotel. As the extension was in the London Borough of Camden, the team had to deliver meaningful energy savings from the existing building as well as the new extension.

In order to identify where the existing building could reduce energy, Greengage undertook an energy audit to assess the scope for energy reduction measures. Greengage were able to identify opportunities to improve, not only the energy efficiency of the hotel, but also the customer experience and operational effectiveness.

In total the energy efficiency recommendations made by Greengage were estimated to reduce carbon dioxide emissions by 15tonnesCO2/year which was augmented by the installation of photovoltaic panels to generate renewable power for the hotel, saving a further 14tonnesCO2/year.

The recommendations will ensure that the hotel will not only reduce their energy bills in future years but also be partially protected by future energy price rises as they will be generating renewable energy.
