Heathfield, East Sussex

Greengage were commissioned to project manage the Environmental Impact Assessment for the development of 54 residential dwellings on the undeveloped land adjacent to Ghyll Road in Heathfield, East Sussex. The proposals included a range of house and flat types from between 1 and 4 bedrooms, with 31.5% affordable housing. The proposed development also included the creation of open space and a children’s play area.

The application site for the proposed development was located to the south of Heathfield, adjacent to an existing built-up area. The locality exhibits both urban and rural characteristics and Greengage identified many potentially sensitive receptors including: wildlife interests of potentially important ecological value on site, including areas of wet and ancient semi-natural woodland; adjoining residential properties and associated land; the adjacent High Weald Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB); and the adjacent Grade II listed Lower Theobald’s Farmhouse and associated buildings.

Services for this project included the project management of the Environmental Impact Assessment of the planning application, co-ordination of accompanying technical component studies and production of ES chapters including Landscape and Visual Impact Assessment, Ecology, Archaeology and Water Resources. Utilising our understanding of the environmental issues associated with residential developments we provided a focused, cost effective EIA process.
