Integrating green infrastructure into a new town centre in Catford to deliver biodiversity, and sustainable development.
Lewisham Council is investing in a masterplan – a vision to be developed in collaboration with the community – that maps out how they want the town centre to evolve over the coming decades.
In spring 2018, the Council launched a tender process to find the very best architects to draw up the masterplan for Catford town centre. Greengage were commissioned as part of this team to lead the initiatives on green infrastructure, biodiversity and delivering social value.
The masterplan document will guide future growth and development and will bring forward, recommendations and proposals for an area’s population, economy, housing, transportation, community facilities and land use. It is based on public input, planning initiatives, existing development, physical characteristics and social and economic conditions.
The masterplan for Catford will be both aspirational and deliverable, commercially-based, and informed by a thorough understanding of the retail, residential and leisure market in Catford town centre.
