Broadland, Norwich

This project comprised the residential-led, mixed-use urban extension on land in Broadland, north of Norwich.

The circa. 210ha site was to be developed over a 15-20 yr period and include 3,520 new dwellings, commercial office and retail space, two small hotels, primary schools, a library, a health centre, nurseries and over 80ha of green space.

The development was designed around car free and walkability principles to support an inclusive sustainable development with multifunctional green infrastructure and playable streets.

Greengage was commissioned to manage and coordinate the EIA including the completion of the ecology and socio-economic impact chapters. Greengage also undertook and led on the Health Impact Assessment for the site, identifying interventions that could minimise any negative impacts and potentially enhance any positive ones.
